Our journey began back in 1966 when several area churches identified a need for long-term care living options in the community.
They elected representatives from each of their churches and formed an advisory board. The advisory board elects a smaller board to serve as our board of directors. Our home opened August 1, 1967.
Along the way our home has grown.
1984 Tornado shelter and additional healthcare rooms were built
1989 Nine Independent Living apartments known as Beninga Acres were built on the campus.
1992 an addition was added to the original dining room and the beautiful chapel
2002 Another wing of healthcare rooms
In 2012 we began our journey in “Culture change.”
We hired educators and consultants in the field of long term care and began learning. We learned of a model of care, person-centered care through the Promoting Excellent Alternatives in Kansas Nursing Homes (PEAK) program that would change the lives of those who live here. Learn more about PEAK here.
We established three Neighborhoods: Serenity House, Harmony House, and Kindred House on July 1, 2013. Our neighborhoods are small areas in the home where a group of 12 to 25 elders live. Each neighborhood has its own kitchen, living room area, and spa.
